So Why a Blog?

“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to Heaven, we were all going direct the other way.”

Charles Dickens, A Tale of Two Cities

The opening words of Charles Dickens’ A Tale of Two Cities are timeless and may well apply as well to our current day as to the day referenced by Dickens

In this website I and my guest writers are attempting to provide a commentary on “The Best of Times” that we live in today. I intend this blog to be an optimistic and hopeful place; however, just as Dickens aptly said, even the best of times have troubles and therefore we will also discuss some of the troubles that we observe in this world. In doing this, it is never our intent to judge other individuals. We may from time to time write about subjects that may make our readers uncomfortable. This discomfort is intended to help the reader, and ourselves, to consider carefully important issues of our time.

Long-time readers of my blog will notice that I write primarily on three topics: government, religion, and family. These three topics are very important to me. While I work in the technology industry, I feel an obligation to participate in the conversation on what I see as monumental issues facing my generation.

I write about things that I notice happening around me and try to provide my opinion in a clear and non-argumentative fashion. I invite discussion of what I have written but reserve the right to remove comments that personally attack, use vulgar language, or are in other ways inappropriate. If you disagree with my opinions, please feel free to comment. I definitely don’t have all the answers and I believe that a healthy discussion of the issues can facilitate understanding. I will be respectful of your opinions as I hope you will be of mine.

I hope you enjoy The Best of Times
